I have a solo gig coming up at the Sidewalk Cafe on Sunday February 8th at 11pm. You're probab;y thinking, "Jim, what's the incentive to waste a perfectly good Sunday night on a 45 minute performance?" I'll tell ya what.

MULTI MEDIA PERFORMANCE!!!

Though this isn't the first of it's kind, it will me my first attempt at it. For the next few weeks, I'll be putting together a "virtual back-up band," consisting mainly of myself. I'll be recording the video and audio of additional instruments, to be played simultaneously with my live performance.

How cool is that?

Answer- way cool.

The Sidwalk Cafe

I've taken a shining to a delightful little club in the East Village called the Sidewalk Cafe and Restaurant. They do an open mic there every Monday night that I've been doing my best to show up to every week.

I showed up this past Monday with my trusty snare drum to back up Mike Baglivi and The Open End. Turns out, a dude with a snare drum is a popular dude. I ended up playing with the Telethons too, as recorded a quick little ditty with Swampluck in the basement.

In addition to the percussion, I also premiered a brand new tune, called "So Much Summer." It's a song I started writing while on the road with The Kissers.

New projects shaping up!

Hey folks,

Just wanted to let you know that though I've been laying low, it's not because I haven't been busy. I just returned back to NY from Wisconsin, where I spend the last week and a half playing shows with The God Damns and Hometown Sweethearts. I wanted to thank everyone who came out to party with us old school style!

Now that I'm back, I'm steadily working on project "Waylan Daniel and The Bricks." As you know, I tend to make every project different from the last, and this will be no exception. Our launching point is material from some of my past projects, (Electric Automatic and The Kissers,) as well as new material. What makes this new and exciting is the instrumentation. As of today, we consist of guitar/ukulele, tuba, fiddle and drums. I'm also adding a multi-media angle to the show. More on that later...

While we wait for that machine to get tuned up and running, I'm moonlighting as the new drummer for Mike Baglivi and the Open End. www.myspace.com/theopenend. We play some good rock music; the kind Freddie Mercury would approve of. Appearing at a club near you!
